CEBIT: IT industry will be back, Schwarzenegger says
In partnership with SIPPO (Swiss Import Promotion Programme) we are exhibiting on Cebit 2009 from 3 - 9 March in Hannover Germany.
Earlier this month our company attended CeBit 2009 held in Hannover, Germany. Despite the world recession, business' cautiousness in the context of the global economic downturn, CeBIT 2009 succeeded in inspiring optimism in the world of ICT industry. Over 4 300 companies from 69 countries faced the challenges of international crisis and chose the CeBIT 2009 platform, in order to search for new opportunities, partners and horizons.
During the 6 day show we had a steady flow of visitors stopping by the booth to discuss IT-outsoucing and to see what new solutions and services our company had to offer. The fair proved to be rich in business contacts with representatives of companies from Western Europe, USA and Canada. It was established more than 60 business contacts aimed both at the development of eSP's outsourcing IT-business and the integration of program systems and IT-consulting into Ukrainian and CIS markets.
The company was present at the joint Swiss Import Promotion Programme stand and in addition to the opening ceremony. We were among the 2,000 prominent international guests from the worlds of politics, business and technology including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Craig R. Barrett, Chairman of the Board Intel Corporation and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Governor of the Partner State California.
'Some might say that this is the worst time for a big trading show like this, but they could not be more wrong,' Schwarzenegger told other politicians and industry leaders at the opening of the CeBIT. 'Losers whine, but winners move forward in a strong and powerful way,' he said at world's biggest tech fair.
We even have shaken hands with Mr. Schwarzenegger at Hannover Congress Hall after opening ceremony of CeBIT.
Our company was invited to the official welcoming receptions of California - partner state of the exhibition and Ontario Exhibitors (Canada). We also took part in German-Californian ICT Business Summit and events organized by The Future Match 2009.
We also met with Ken Hensley, Musician, Singer-songwriter, Guitarist, Producer. He wrote or cowrote the majority of Uriah Heep's songs during this period, including such hits as "Look at Yourself", "Lady in Black", "Easy Livin'", "Stealin'" and "Free Me". Ken Hensley was presenting a 2-hour songwriting workshop/master-class at the CeBIT fair as the guest of IBM and in support of their Sawubona Music Jam project.
As we already mentioned before we were invited by the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) to participate at CeBIT-2009 at a joint SIPPO stand.

Ukraine is once again included in Gartner's 2008 List of Top 30 Countries for Offshore Outsourcing
For the second year in a row, Gartner's research named Ukraine as one of the top 30 countries for Offshore IT Outsourcing. In 2008 Gartner used 10 criteria to determine its Top 30 countries: government support and infrastructure, language and cultural compatibility, educational system and talent pool, cost, political and economic environment, global and legal maturity and intellectual property privacy and data security. The fact that Ukraine was included in the list for the second time proves its strive for excellence in providing outsourced services in a variety of areas.
On assessing 72 offshore locations, Gartner generated its new list of Top 30 Hot Spots for offshore outsourcing. According to Gartner, the analysis of offshore locations showed the dynamic growth of the outsourcing market and helped identify countries that are most likely to become credible alternative to such traditional locations as India and China.
Ukraine is listed in Gartner's Top 30 among other EMEA countries (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, Romania, Egypt etc. Gartner determined that Ukraine as well as other EMEA locations became a powerful nearshore center for outsourced services. Ukraine continues to attract its mature neighborhood such as EU and the Nordic regions as a high quality and low cost services provider.
eSP hopes that in the conditions of the economic turmoil Ukraine will grow as one of the most effective offshore and nearshore destinations in EMEA region and will continue to be listed among Gartner's Top 30 countries in 2009.

eSP was selected for participation in “Support to the Development of Business Capacity of Ukrainian SMEs — International Dimension” Project

The European Commission has been actively involved in supporting the development of a successful economy in Ukraine. Considering that the support for the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) required additional assistance, a new project called “Support to the Development of Business Capacity of Ukrainian SMEs – International Dimension” was initiated together with the State Committee of Ukraine for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship (SCURPE), which will act as the Project’s main beneficiary.
The Project will be implemented by the WYG International led Consortium. The Project will contribute to the development of SME competitiveness through institutional capacity building and policy advice to SCURPE and the main SME policy institutions, technical assistance in export and investment promotion and attracting foreign investments and through the increase of awareness of business internationalization in the country.
The Project activities will be divided into three components:

- Facilitate commercial links with EU companies and other foreign enterprises;
- Increase awareness of business internationalization in the public and SME sectors.
WYG International is the international arm of White Young Green plc. Post-show a visibly moved Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers gave their accounts of the experience of the Kharkov concert, with Brian May saying: “Our show in Kharkov was an unforgettable experience … one of those rare things in life which you know you will never forget. It was a meeting in Music, but also a fateful coming together to fight a common enemy … HIV AIDS.... we felt privileged to be part of this pivotal point in Ukraine’s journey …”
Roger Taylor: “We would like to say a big thank you to the people of the Ukraine in giving Queen such a wonderful welcome after so many years. We hope the concert helped to bring a message of awareness of the terrible threat of HIV/AIDS to all the people! We have suffered the great loss of our dear singer Freddie Mercury – we hope this kind of loss does not happen to you. Be kind to yourselves – be careful – be alive!”
And from Paul Rodgers: “To all who came out and rocked with us thank you. We believe that our Aids Awareness message was received by 20 million! Hopefully we touched those hearts and minds and I pray that it makes a difference.”

Ukrainian Outsourcing Forum '2007
(November 12, 2007, International Exhibition Centre, Kiev, Ukraine).
Over the past 20 years, customers and available service providers have gathered extensive experience in outsourcing. The arrival of suppliers specializing in outsourcing saw the creation of a complex service industry with increasing maturity and a value-added chain with ever increasing differentiation. With first-generation outsourcing, the focus was on IT systems. The primary goal was to reduce costs. A restriction to cost reductions alone, however, is not sufficient to fully exploit the optimization potential. The know-how of external service providers can considerably improve a company’s own business processes and the quality of its products and services. Clients who merely offer historically established infrastructures or business processes to outsourcing service providers are missing out on opportunities. These days, business and IT processes must be closely linked and able to provide a direct image of the dynamic changes in business life. Before individual business and IT processes can be outsourced to professional service providers, they generally have to be subjected to re-engineering. As a result, traditional outsourcing is turned into business-transformation outsourcing or next-generation outsourcing. New business models are increasingly arising for service providers in projects which involve next-generation outsourcing. These provide for performance agreements founded in the major changes in the client’s business environment and they are principally aligned with the business objectives or the operation of business processes which may result from previous transformations. The integration and operation of business and IT processes, as well as the development of business partnerships in next-generation outsourcing, are based on the assumption of highly varied capabilities among service providers. The essential point is to simulate and monitor integral business processes in real time. The customer expects a higher degree of flexibility than was available in the past, as well as an increase in the overall availability of business processes. Successful next-outsourcing generation projects already exist, but there is still a great need for information. elite Software Products Consortium and Partners are organizing the “4th Ukrainian Outsourcing Forum 2007” (November 1-2, 2007, Kiev) for companies which would like to meet, discuss concepts and share experience. We look forward to seeing you there!

Information society & Innovation Outlook, Development of the Kharkiv region through information technologies Forum
We begin the 21st century with a general expectation that the one-two punch of science and
technology will, by itself, generate an unending flow of discoveries, tools and gadgets to
bring us closer to a utopian future. This premise has also shaped a general understanding of
innovation as equivalent to discovery, invention and the flow of new technotoys. In reality,
invention has always been as distinct from innovation as rivers are from oceans: one clearly
feeds into the other. elite Software Products Consortium in cooperation with academics and university leaders and Business partners organized the “1st Ukrainian Information society & Innovation Outlook Forum” for companies which would like to meet, discuss concepts and share IT- experience.

The eSP Consortium Delivered Innovative Business Solutions to its Clients
The companies of eSP Consortium developed and integrated software solutions to allow
Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, World Travelvision and Stein's Garden and Gifts to
operate their businesses more effectively.
WG Softpro of eSP Consortium helped Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant to manage revenue
and business process workflow automation.
The WG SoftPro was engaged by the biggest in Europe Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant
(Ukraine) to develop the corporate desktop/Internet application to manage revenue
and business process workflow automation. The solution facilitates personal and group
activity scheduling and financial monitoring.
The application is based on Advantage Database Server platform (Extended Systems, Boise,
USA) and control huge data volumes, which are measured by many gigabytes.
As a part of the complete solution, Web-client is designed via WEB Application Adapter from
Alaska Software Inc. (WG SoftPro is a authorized technology partner of Alaska Software Inc.)
The project was developed and started in 9 months. A next stage is being planned, where WG
SoftPro will expand the application to control other departments of nuclear plant. Now it
extends to the judicial office and to next parts of accounting department. Software will
be adapted to provide the system integration with other applications, which are already
used at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.
Eclipse Software Programming of eSP Consortium (also marketed as Tech Data Solutions in the
USA) delivered a Microsoft.NET-based content exchange Internet portal to World Travelvision.
The client (WTV) has pioneered and perfected the design, development and distribution of
Digital Brochures. WTV also produces Videos, CD-ROMs, E-Cards, DVDs and Web sites. The
Hollywood, Florida based company works with a wide variety of travel clients including
American Airlines, American Express, major international hotel chains as well as small
hotels and travel suppliers.
WTV creates content for hotels (such as Pictures, Virtual Reality Shows (IPix) and Videos)
and then distributes this content to partners in form of Digital Brochures and as stand
alone items. Partners place links to WTV content on their web sites so that consumers can
look at the content when they are searching for a hotel or a destination and make a better
educated decision.
WTV Interactive Content Exchange Portal is a reliable and scalable web platform for visual
content management and delivery, having the following key features:
- Ability to create and manage content
- Streamlined process of signing new hotels and creating digital brochures for them
- Easy to use GUI for the portal visitors to become a partner of WTV and place WTV content on partner’s web properties
- Ability to generate statistical data on use of WTV content
- WTV control of availability of their content links on partner’s sites (smart links)
- WTV control to manage distributors, hotels, digital brochures, outside sales representatives
The following technologies has been utilized during development: ASP.NET, MS SQL Server 2000, IBuySpy portal.
The KIT Group of eSP Consortium helped Stein's Garden and Gifts to simplify the process of applying the
discounts to its goods
Challenge:
The Client owns a network of shops selling plants (flowers, etc). There was the business requirement to
provide the employees of the front office with the ability to implement easily and quickly a single
discount system for all the branches. Each branch should print signs (advertising coupons indicating
products and discounts for them).
Approach:
There's a single intranet (VPN) in the company. The employees of the front office can set discounts and
then create advertising coupons with the help of a special sign creation engine using Crystal Reports.
Printing service is set up at the main server, that's an application which connects to the main server
automatically in certain time intervals and gets information about discounts, and prints advertising
coupons (signs) for the chosen shops. Besides, a separate email service sending notifications to all the
administrative department about the activity of the application is created.
Features:
- Windows 2000 Active Directory Authentication
- Use the Steins Active Directory for Authentication
and security. All users of the system are already defined in Steins Active Directory.
- Web Service that runs on a schedule to print signs that have "ready" status for printing.
- Maintenance of Events
- Creation of signs with print preview (Crystal Report Engine used)
- Ability to reprint signs
- Ability to remotely browse all printer jobs
- Ability to remotely cancel printer job
Technology:
- Language: C# (.NET Framework 1.0, 1.1 supported)
- Database: Microsoft SQL Server
- Additional: Crystal Reports Engine
